Ana lost against Sharapova in Madrid.

Today Ana was defeated by world No.2 Maria Sharapova in straight sets 4-6 3-6 in Semifinals of Mutua Madrid Open.

With this result Ana will rise to No.13 in next week, (up 3 position). 

Next Tournament for Ana is Internazioli BNL D' Italia in Rome which begins on next week. Ivanovic defend 3rd round points.

Ana moves into Madrid semis.

On Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, Ana Ivanovic played in a brilliant fashion as she defeated world No.6 Anquelique Kerber of Germany 6-3 6-4 in one hour and 17 minutes.

In the first ser Ana began with a comfortable 3-0 lead. Then Kerber held her serve and broke Ana's serve but Ivanovic again broke and consolidate the break to lead 5-2. After Kerber held her serve and Ana served out for the set by winning 6-3.

In the second set Ana started very well and quickly reached 5-0 but Kerber broke Ivanovic's serve. After Ana again broke German's serve and won the match 6-3 6-1.

Ana will face in next Round against Maria Sharapova, who defeated Kanepi 6-2 6-4. They will play this match on Tomorrow at Center Court 2nd match around 1:00 pm local time.

Ana battles past Robson to Reach the Quarterfinals in Madrid

In 2 hours and 16 minutes, Ana Ivanovic secured her berth in the quarterfinals for the second straight tournament and for the first time in Madrid. This time, she defeated British player Laura Robson 5-7 6-2 7-6(5). 

 In the first set, the two women exchanged breaks of serve in the first two games. Then they held serve until 5-6, when Robson broke Ivanovic's serve to take the set 7-5. 

 In the second set, they exchanged breaks again at the start but Ana again broke Robson's serve in the next game and consolidated the break to lead 3-1. The Serbian broke the British woman's serve again before losing her own serve for 4-2. Not losing hope, Ivanovic broke Robson's serve for the third time in the set and comfortably served it out 6-2. 

 In the third set, Robson took a 2-0 lead, but Ana drew level by winning the next two games. Robson held her serve, broke Ana's serve, and comfortably consolidated the break to lead 5-2. Ana then held her serve and broke Robson whene she served for the rematch to reach 4-5. After she held for 5-5, she broke Robson and served for the match, but her British opponent broke back to force a tiebreak. 

 In the tiebreak, Ana took an early minibreak and led 2-0. Robson won the next three points and regained the minibreak. Ana hit two strong first serves, including an ace, to stay on serve at 4-3. She then won the second point of Robson's next two serves to lead 5-4 with a minibreak. With a strong serve, she reached double match point at 6-4. Robson saved the first match point with impressive tennis but hit a double fault on the second at 5-6, giving Ana the victory with a 7-5 tiebreak. 

 Ana will meet Angelique Kerber in the quarterfinals after the world No. 6 defeated Kuznetsova 3-6 6-4 7-5. They will play this match on Friday.

El Hormiguero today as Novak Djokovic and Ana Ivanovic appeared on the popular Spanish TV show. The two chatted with the host before taking part in some fun, including stacking playing cards and dressing up in rain ponchos and goggles to hit plastic cups with their racquets.

Ana beats Scheepers in Madrid

In 57 minutes, Ana Ivanovic from Serbia defeated Chanelle Scheppers from South Africa and reached the 3rd Round of Mutua Madrid Open in Spain.

In the first set Ana began with a comfortable 2-0 lead but lost the next game on her serve. Then Ana again broke the Scheepers's serve and consolidate the break for 4-1 lead. Then Chanelle held her serve and Ana too. In the following game Ana took the game and won the first set 6-2

In the second set Two players held serve until Ana took the opportunity to break Scheepers's serve and held her serve to lead 5-2. Then Ana broke Opponent's serve and won the set 6-2 and the match.

Ana will face in next Round against Laura Robson, who defeated Radwanska 6-3 6-1. They will play this match tomorrow on Center Court Last match Not before: 9:30 pm local time. 

Ana defeated Mattek-Sands and advanced to the Second Round of Madrid.

 In 2 hours and 29 minutes, Ana Ivanovic advanced to the second round of the Mutua Madrid Open after defeating American world No. 72 Bethanie Mattek-Sands in three sets 6-7(10) 6-3 6-2. 

 In the first set, both women served well before reaching a tiebreak, which Bethanie managed to edge 12-10.  

In the second set, Ana began with a comfortable 2-0 lead but lost the next game on her serve. Then Ana again broke the American's serve and saved 5 break point on her next service game to consolidate the break for a 4-1 lead. Mattek-Sands then saved one break point in the next game, and the two players held serve until Ana took the opportunity to serve out the set 6-3.

 In the third set, Ana took another 2-0 lead. Although Mattek-Sands held her serve in the third game, Ana held and broke her a second time to lead 4-1. The rest of the games went with serve as Ana served out the set and match 6-2. 

 Ana will face South African Chanelle Scheepers, who defeated Jelena Jankovic 6-7 6-3 6-3. They will play this match on Tuesday.

Mutua Madrid Open Main Draw

Ana is seeded No.16 at Mutua Madrid Open . Ivanovic will face Qualifier  in First Round , which begins in saturday .

If she reaches round two Ana will face against Jelena Jankovic or Qualifier. Four  seed Agieszka Radwanska is a posible third Round opponent .

Sixth seed Anquelique Kerber or No.11 seed Nadia Petrova are a posible adversary in Quarterfinals .Possible semi-final opponents include Second seed Maria Sharapova and No.7 Petra Kvitova.

The leading seeds in the bottom half of the draw, whom Ana cannot face until the final, are No.1 Serena Williams, No.3 Victoria Azarenka, No.5 Na Li and No.8 Samantha Stosur.
