Ivanovic reached Brisbane Final.

Second seed Ana Ivanovic from serbia defeated Varvara Lepchenko 7-6 6-4 in 1 hour and and 53 minutes and she reached final for the first time at Brisbane International. Also 1st final of the year.

In the first set Ana was broken by the American in the opening game of the match and then Lepchenko twice served for the opening set but Ivanovic broke back both times then won the tiebreaker.

In the second set, Ivanovic charged to a 5-1 lead before she got the wobbles, allowing Lepchenko to reel off the next three games before she finally sealed the win on her seventh match point.

“Definitely your heart was raising a little bit, especially that it was really becoming a battle. Like I said, all the way up to that point, even though I was 5-1 up, still felt like a battle all the way through,” Ivanovic said.

“I really tried to take it one point at a time and do the things that I’ve been working on and practising and try not think too much about the result.”

“It’s just a bit sore. First tournament of the season you’re always going to get a little bit of pains and niggles here and there,” she said.

“That’s why recovery is really important. Last night was really quick turnaround, and now I’ll have a little bit more time for rest and recovery.”

Ana will play now against Maria Sharapova, who defeated Svitolina 6-1 6-3. They will play this match tomorrow at Pat Rafter Arena 4th match Not before: 7:00 pm local time.
