Ivanovic beats Kanepi to reach Brisbane SFs.

Ana Ivanovic reached the semi-finals of the Brisbane International with a hard-fought 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory over world No.52 Kaia Kanepi of Estonia.

The Estonian was quick out of the blocks, racing to a 5-0 lead in the opening set. Kanepi double faulted when she had the chance to wrap up the set 6-0 then Ivanovic responded by breaking her serve and reeling off the next four games.

Neither player took control in the second, which featured seven breaks of serve in just 10 games.

The pair swapped breaks before a double fault by Kanepi in the 10th game handed the set to the Serbian.

Ivanovic found her service rhythm in the decider, quickly claiming another break in the fourth game of the third set to take an advantage she wouldn’t relinquish.

Ana will now face against Varvara Lepchenko, who defeated Kudryavtseva 7-5 7-5. They will play this match today at Pat Rafter Arena 2nd match not before: 3:00 pm local time.

Ana and Angelique Kerber withdrew from the doubles competition: their scheduled opponents, Karolina Srebotnik and Caroline Garcia, received a bye into the semi-finals.
